Conflict Transformation: When is Conflict an Opportunity? Are you and your housemate fighting about the volume level of her stereo? Having a falling out with a best friend? Is your student group battling it out with another student group? Need help dealing with group dynamics?
Conflict can be painful – most people think about tension, frustration, anger, and/or avoidance when they hear the word “conflict.”
But conflict can also be an opportunity: a chance to learn more about yourself and the other(s), a chance to develop more fully as a person. Conflict is a natural part of life. So the question is not “Will you have conflicts?” but “How will you deal with your conflicts?”
If you need help with a personal conflict or want to schedule a workshop for your group, contact the student-led Conflict Resolution & Transformation Center at http://conflict.berkeley.edu or the East Bay Community Mediation Center (EBCM) at www.ebcm.org.
