General Comments
Add referances, wikipedia links, what one can do about it, groups involved links, and images wherever possible. See Professor Ignacio Chapela for an example of a great introductory statement that tells the reader what the article is about. More articles could use such a synopsis and reason to care at the top.
Existing Articles
Cal, the University
A People's History of Berkeley - what to add since 2000, that isn't covered in ongoing events?
Meet The Regents - draft; does not include Regent investment information/referance; could use more info on each Regents and why who the Regents are matters to students. Abbreviations should not be used, such as DoD and DoE. Link to DoD, DoE, etc.
Abolition of Nuclear Weapons - out of date; does not include Fiat Pax, fasts, or recent developments
Stop BP-Berkeley - incomplete; no background info on BP's bad history, no information on how corporate funding affects the direction of research, no connection with money from Big Tobacco or history of funding sources. Otherwise, excellent structure. Timeline forces reader to scroll down. Great images.
A Brief History Of Birgeneau - good that it references other articles; interconnection brings the issues together and focuses on the importance of having democratic and overseen leaders. Well written, though leaves the reader asking for more information on Birgeneau and no avenue to persue. wikipedia link?
Corporate Campus Map - great start, just needs more input
Professor Ignacio Chapela - great first sentence summary. (more articles should have a pull such as this if possible; what is this gonna be about and why should I care)
Michael Nagler, Professor of Nonviolence, Leaves UC - relatively complete
Professor John Yoo And War Crimes - excellent article, but does not give the reader anything they can do about the situation. is anyone still protesting? could use image
Free Speech Today - needs examples of times when the right of free speech has been taken away (and for comparison, when it hasn't and in whose interest).
Cal's Secret Society - interesting; relatively complete; includes image
Cal and its Environment
Environmental Groups On Campus - complete; includes images
Save Strawberry Creek Watershed - I didn't read this
The Albany Bulb - complete; great images
The Student Organic Garden - complete; includes cool image
Welcome To The Gill Tract - relatively complete; could use an image; big claims, little backing
Composting At Berkeley - complete; a humorous breather that few can disagree with!
Your Local Stream - complete; includes image; could use image from past and map
Our Local History
Local Bay Area History - I'm confused by this article
Ohlone Indians - I have no background so cannot tell if this is a relatively complete history. Shellmound/Emery Bay Mall has a yearly protest/march which should be mentioned.
Peoples History of Peoples Park - relatively incomplete; this could be longer - ask Terri Compost about her friend who has an autobiographical account of the events.
The Struggle Continues
ASAPA - good ad for and by ASAPA
Womens Rights Are Human Rights - I didn't read;
Animal Rights - relatively complete; could use an image; I'd like more info on Animal Rights Abuses on campus, the story about meat being cooked with the "vegan" cafeteria food and how student activism has changed the dining halls (see composting also), and general meat-industry horrors. Or at least a link to this info.
Coca Cola Or Coca Kila - SOJA: out of date; could use one of may Coke Kills images. Does not include end sweatshop Cal gear campaign.
The Oak Grove Treesit - too much here and not up to date; needs to be reviewed; should the satire letter be included; is "a view for the trees" up to date and is the tone well-received by new students, the target audience?
Copwatch - good, explanatory ad for and by Copwatch
Peace Power - good; could use a cover image
The Whole Student
Spirit At Cal great.
Progressive Education At Cal - taken from old disorientation; should be updated. could include a reading/movie/webcast list
Community Resources
Berkeley Free Clinic Services For Broke Ass People - complete; info dense but important info. May need some editing.
Food Not Bombs - complete; taken from foodnotbombs website.
Free Meals - complete; put information on eligibility for food stamps and getting them? (I believe many students are eligible)
The Long Haul - complete; taken from longhaul website. do we need to print this or just a blurb and link?
(Mostly) Free Things To Do in Berkeley - complete but always in progress; map can use more locations (email io suggestions)
